SparkLoop: Help, I’ve gone overboard with this

After reading through this page, you’ll think I’m crazy. Maybe I am. But if you’re reading this, you received my unconventional, but hopefully mildly impressive application to SparkLoop.

If you haven’t watched yet (or only watched once), here’s the video again:

On this page, you’ll find a few things:

  • Links to everything discussed in the video.
  • Why I want to work with you.

Let’s get you those links first so you can browse through everything yourself:

Links to the project I created for you

If you’ve watched the video, you know I’ve created various deliverables for my application. You can find them here:

  • On the Notion Page, you can get a general overview and links to other parts of the project.
  • Using the article operations spreadsheet, you can get an operational overview over the project.
  • The 2 Google Docs files show you concrete examples of work: First, an edited version of an existing article, annotated with reasoning for edits. Second, an all-new article on a topic for which there is currently none.
  • The Figma link contains all the components to create explainer images for the support hub.

Now, you might be wondering:

Why the hell did I do all of this?

“The best way to get the job is to do the job to get the job”

-Noah Kagan (Founder, AppSumo)

There are two main reasons I shipped a project for you before ever working with you:

  1. I needed to get your attention.
  2. SparkLoop sounds awesome to work for.

Point 1 is simple. Resumes say little about the person behind the document. Cover letters are basically lists with vaguely positive adjectives. Instead, I wanted to show you what I’m like—and be the first to extend trust.

Point 2 benefits from description:

Why I want to work with you

There’s a main reason that excited me. Before we get to that, SparkLoop embodies things I value in a (tech) company:

  • Building a profitable business, not raising series after series to hopefully, one day, make money.
  • Keeping a small, hyper-effective team instead of making vanity hires for the sake of “scaling”.
  • Impressive, ambitious people focusing on results and ownership, not politics and power dynamics.

But the most important thing to me is this:

Most importantly, you have the unique opportunity to grow quickly alongside SparkLoop, moulding your initial role into your dream one.

Learning and growing is my favorite thing. And I can already tell you other ways I’d love to contribute to SparkLoop:

3 content marketing ideas for SparkLoop

  • Turning highlights from Editorial like Friday Features into social content (e.g. LinkedIn slideshows, Twitter threads)
  • Boosting search rankings with a targeted SEO content strategy
  • Partnering with ConvertKit on a content format, e.g. a new, regular newsletter about newsletter growth

The most important thing, though, remains learning and growth. If you love that too, I’d be excited to have a chat with you soon. Just email me under kontakt@finnlobsien.de and we’ll set up a time to chat!
